Bad Driving Habits

April 26, 2021

I think I will call this blog the CRANKY CANUCK – all about bad driving habits.

We all know about the distracted driving laws, cell phones, shaving, make up, etc. But what about everything else.

Why are there so many people that have no clue how to drive. Where it is as simple as using a signal light, blowing a red light, making risky moves. Eventually it will catch up to you. I just don’t want to be the guy on the other end. So, in the spirit of being cranky, here are my top peeves about bad driving habits.

Bad Habit #1

Why do people insist driving in the passing lane.

If you were in Europe on the Autobahn, the driver coming up on you would be flashing their lights telling you to get the hell out of the way.

It is a passing lane people. Whankers just stay in the left lane dilly dallying. I have places to go, so get out of my way. You are not some vigilante cop making sure everyone is doing the speed limit. People are just getting mad behind you and making bad decisions trying to get around you.

IDIOTS

Bad Habit #2

Driving cautiously through the mountains. I get that. There is lots to see. But when there is a passing lane, DO NOT speed up to 120km/hr so that no one can get around you. Put your cruise control on what ever speed you want to go and stay there. If you want to drive 120km/hr, you better not slow down once the road goes back to single lane.

IDIOTS.

Bad Habit #3

Stopping at a traffic circle. Yes, you need to yield to the guy on the right, but don’t stop. Traffic circles are designed to flow traffic. They work great when everyone follows the rules. Some drivers are afraid to jump into the flow. I get that it is intimidating at times – especially the 2 lane traffic circles, but you need to go. You just end up backing up traffic and other drivers are just getting mad behind you and making back decisions.

IDIOTS.

Bad Habit #4

Road rage. This may not seem like a habit on the surface, but the failure to keep your cool and put your emotions aside on the road is a bad habit. Anger on the road leads to poor decisions that can result in serious accidents as well as tickets that can have a major impact on your car insurance rates.

What other bad habits are there that get your blood boiling – let me know.

That’s is for now. Let’s hear what you have to say.
